Sudden Pitch History

Sudden Pitch was founded in 1956 through the initiative of 67 families in a unique cooperative venture. Sudden Pitch derived its name from the brook behind the club at the bottom of a steep landfall. It offered a 12-acre recreational site within the city limits of Manchester where families could enjoy swimming and recreation without the long drive to the lakes or beaches.

These founding families built a 76 by 42 foot pool and a 30 by 10 foot wading pool, and a large recreational area with various features nestled under beautiful, tall pine trees. Originally there were two red clay tennis courts, and over the years two more clay courts and two hard courts were added. The club has continued to add many new features, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience for all our members.

• 6 Tennis courts: 4 lighted, red clay courts and 2 hard courts
